This year again, the Communauté d’agglomération of Lens-Liévin invites the Video Mapping Festival for 2 events one after the other, in 2 cities of the area: Méricourt and Loos-en-Gohelle!
In Méricourt, a création on the facade of the City Hall will trace the history of the town and its mining heritage, from coal to the challenges of ecological transition.
► Charcoal & Pigments
Conceived as a true animated painting, this mural transforms Méricourt City Hall into a time machine, driven by Roger Somville’s vibrant aesthetic. The spectacle first plunges the audience into the age of iron and coal in the mine shafts, before allowing them to relive, with deep emotion, the tragedy of 1906 and the moving resilience of its survivors. From these ruins, the building is reborn through the power of nature and art. Throughout the projection, the painter’s iconic series come to life and intertwine with the various scenes, leading the building to blossom in an explosion of rich, utopian colours, celebrating 120 years of memory and a future turned towards the light.
