Monument video mapping

This year again, the Communauté d’agglomération of Lens-Liévin invites the Video Mapping Festival for 2 events one after the other, in 2 cities of the area: Méricourt and Loos-en-Gohelle!
In Loos-en-Gohelle, discover 2 creations exploring the transformation of the territory and the ecological transition, from coal to green: an abstract architectural installation on the facade of the City Hall, and a figurative and narrative installation on the Saint-Vaast Church.

City Hall
Duration: approx. 3 min 30

► Symbiosis
This video mapping transforms the facade of the City Hall into a living entity, interwoven with the history of coal and the region’s ecological transition. Through an abstract visual world, the facade evolves from a dark, industrial, mineral landscape into a luminous, organic architecture. Coal and machinery gradually give way to networks of vegetation and energy inspired by living organisms.
The project tells the story of Loos-en-Gohelle’s transformation: a mining past that becomes the foundation for a sustainable and bright future.

Creation and animation: Clément Lemaire
Original music: Aleksi Aubry-Carlson

Saint-Vaast Church
Duration: approx. 5 min

► The Phoenix Compass
Through a vivid and humorous graphic narrative, the Phoenix journeys through the town’s history, from war to mining, and then from agriculture to the energy sources of the future.
Born in a world of plants, it passes through the flames of war and descends into the depths of the mine, before rising back to the surface amidst roots and agricultural landscapes.
Gradually, a new energy flows from the church roof. The facade is transformed, the Phoenix comes back to life and a compass appears. It points north: the Phoenix spreads its wings and takes flight towards tomorrow.

Creation: Clément Goffinet
Animation: Madeleine Angst, Clément Goffinet
Original music: Virgile Guiost Flore
