Monument video mapping

The Video Mapping Festival kicks off its regional tour at the Quadrilatère – Art centre of Beauvais, for an event organised in collaboration with the studio PlayMarche, spin off of the University of Macerata in Italy! The glazed brick facade of this unique venue will host 3 creations inspired by its new exhibition Enterrer le soleil: one by the Italian studio, and 2 others resulting from a workshop bringing together young French people training in video mapping and Italian students from Poliarte, the Academy of Fine Arts and Design.

► Who loves the sun / Qui aime le soleil
The sun is the central figure, worshipped by civilisations throughout the ages. But aren’t we asking too much of it? And even today, who really loves the sun?

► Lifecycle
The cycle of death has always been a part of human civilization. As humans, we build and destroy our cities and cultures, and then try to rebuild them to rise above the earth. We seek to break the cycle of war in order to improve society.

Subterra Incognita
Beneath the surface lies an uncharted world – not inert, but alive with memory, myth, and geological imagination.
The building becomes a lid to a hidden cosmos of mineral structures, forgotten architectures, and subterranean landscapes, inspired by early visions of the Earth’s interior like Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
What emerges is not a scientific space, but a speculative one – where the underground remains unknown.

Creation: Dirk Rauscher
Curation: Michele Spagnuolo
Production: PlayMarche
