• mammasONica (Italy) – Production
An iconic monument for the Video Mapping Festival (and for the locals!), the facade of the Opera House is making a grand return to the heart of the tour after a 2-year absence! For the occasion, the creation has been entrusted to the Italian studio mammasONica, a prize winner at the Video Mapping Awards in 2025.
► Le doute de l’air
On the facade of the Opera, the architecture appears as it always has, solid, symmetrical, institutional. Yet something passes through it. Air gains weight, creating a suspended condition rather than an event.
mammasONica introduces a subtle perceptual tension where air becomes unstable matter, altering the reading of space. The building seems crossed by an invisible pressure, breathing, holding, releasing. Inspired by an atmospheric and metaphysical sensibility, an architectural yūgen, a shan shui composed in light, the work reveals doubt not as weakness but as a generative force, opening monumental certainty to transformation.
